1 tonne of refined palm oil for food purposes at refinery gate
Objectifs, hypothèses et limites: 
The Purpose is to assess environmental impact of Malaysian palm oil and palm oil at United Plantations Berhad and to identify and assess improvement options : capturing and utilisation of methane from oil mill effluent, utilisation of biomass (EFB) for electricity generation and mineral soils versus peat soils. The modelling of the study is consequential : actual affected/marginal suppliers included and allocation is avoided by system expansion. There is a good data availability, for the plantation: fertiliser, pesticides, fuels, yield profiles, capital goods (United Plantations Berhad); for the oil mill & refinery: energy balance, stack emissions, methane measurements, capital goods (United Plantations Berhad); for the emissions: parameterised model based on nutrient balances, and emission factors: mainly IPCC methodology reports. The used method : LCIA-method Stepwise v1.1 (www.lca-net.com).

Concluding remarks: most significant impacts are GHG, land use and respiratory onorganics; most significant improvement potentials are to avoid cultivation of peat, capture and utilise methane from POME and increase yields by good management (replanting, fertiliser, integrated pest management) and good planting material; and potential to reduce GHG emissions with factor 3-5.

I didn't know that this

I didn't know that this substances could also be used in pest control, it's amazing, it's like a natural resource for this. I'd be really interested in checking some information on pest control cost through this method. I hope I can find that in the study...
