Life Cycle Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles: Implications for Policy
Based on American averages for greenhouse gas emissions intensity of electricity, plug-in hybrid vehicles are shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in comparison to conventional vehicles. However this conclusion is highly dependent based on the energy sources of energy production, time of day, season and region of the charged battery. The authors' further conclude that if alternative energy sources could be used, such as biofuels, there could be an even greater benefit and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the use of plug-in hybrid electric cars.

In this case the full report
In this case the full report of this assessment needs to be known by everyone, we need to be able to weight our options on real facts, only this way we can make a difference. I put my old car in donate car USA a long time ago being convinced that a new car will produce lower emissions, which is true, but how to do we make the old cars reduce their emissions? The biofuels alternatives sounds like a go go for now...
